This course is for those working in a medium risk environment and includes preparing to work safely, entering and exiting medium risk confined spaces safely, using equipment and tools safely, following procedures and dealing with emergencies.
Qualification Aim
The CABWI Level 2 Award in Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces (combined entrant and entry controller) allows learners to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required by those who need to work in medium risk confined spaces as part of their job role. It also allows learners to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required by those who need to work at medium risk confined spaces as part of their job role, but who are not required, or are unable, to enter and work in the confined space. Their role will involve acting as an entry controller (top person) on site for those entering the confined space.
Assessment Methodology
The Level 2 Award in Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces (combined entrant and entry controller) is assessed using practical observations of skills and a multiple choice knowledge test, both of which they must pass in order to gain the qualification. CABWI provides the recording documents for the practical observations and assessment papers and answer keys for the written test, to support recognised centres delivering the qualification. All assessment material has been developed against the qualification assessment requirements. The practical assessment must take place in/at a controlled confined space environment that meets the requirements set out in the qualification specification, and centres requiring recognition to deliver this qualification must show that they have the facilities and equipment required to carry out the practical assessment for a medium risk confined space operation.
