CS5 Emergency Rescue & Recovery of Casualties in Confined Spaces

For any person working in a High Risk confined space and form part of a rescue team, who may need to enter the confined space and assist persons to exit the confined space in the event of an emergency.

Topics
Along with gaining a sound understanding of the Confined Space Regulations 1997, learners will be able to:
•Interpret the Water UK Confined Spaces classification scheme
•Risk assess residual hazards
•Recognise changing environments
•Prepare to work safely in high risk confined spaces
•Enter and exit confined spaces safely
•Prepare and use self-contained open circuit breathing apparatus in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications
•Use appropriate behaviour for working in high risk confined spaces
•Use rescue equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions
•Follow procedures and work safely
•Deal with emergencies
•Use appropriate behaviour for carrying out emergency rescue and recovery of casualties from confined spaces
•Apply relevant water industry standards for carrying out emergency rescue and recovery of casualties from confined spaces

Pre-requisites
•Candidates should bring their own safety footwear, waterproof clothing, hard hat and working gloves for the practical exercises (demonstrate of equipment only).
•Candidates should be able to read, write and understand English as all documentation, presentations and examination paperwork will be in English only.

Prerequisites

  • Candidates should be clean shaven when at all possible.

  • Candidates should be able to read, write and understand English as all documentation, presentations and examination paperwork will be in English only.
